Be a Volunteer
We are a volunteer-based
scheme, offering support and friendship to older people in your community who
may be isolated and unable to get out and about as they used to. As a volunteer
there are plenty of things you can do, and you can devote as much time as you
choose. Don't worry if you can only spare an hour or so once a week or even
a fortnight, we will always be grateful for your time given.
Services we currently provide our members with include:
Befriending
For many people the prospect of a new friend to share with can be something
to really look forward to. We always take great care to match people, ensuring
there are interests or circumstances in common that will encourage the friendship
to strengthen and grow.
Transportation
We need volunteers to assist with our activities by providing transport for
coffee mornings or shopping trips monthly, (for which we are happy to pay mileage
expenses).
Support
Pushing a member around the shopping centre on our shopping trips or helping
out at our weekly Day Centre.
In return you will receive training and on going support. If you decide to offer
time as a volunteer you will need to contact the Manager. Together you will
chat over what your interests are and how you would like to be involved.
